In youth ministry, we dive into the mystery of our faith. We learn how to love, serve, and know God, the Catholic Church and each other more deeply. We do all of this through our Sunday evening experience, through social events such as snow tubing, meteor-gazing, sunrise-watching, hiking, movies, overnight events, and community service like pie-making for the homeless or singing for homebound seniors.
In youth ministry, we meet each other as teammates pursuing a common goal, holiness! Guided by the Lifeteen curriculum, teens will come to a greater understanding of the Catholic Church, Her teachings, and Her witness to the Truth—all while learning how to live the faith in spite of an increasingly secular culture.
In addition to this, teens will have the opportunity to meet other Catholic youth from all over Maine by attending the annual Diocesan Youth Ministry Convention, the Journey Retreat, and the Steubenville East Youth Conference.
This ministry is ultimately a calling for teens to grow as disciples of Christ, to learn how to live their faith boldly, and to, God-willing, become saints. Saint John Paul II once remarked: “The most beautiful and stirring adventure that can happen to you is the personal meeting with Jesus, who is the only one who gives real meaning to our lives.” We agree and hope that every willing teen will join us on this adventure.
We are always looking for volunteer core team members to help share their Catholic faith with the teens.
Youth ministry meets on Sunday evenings from 6-7:30pm at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Scarborough.
