"The role of parents in education is of such importance that it is almost impossible to provide an adequate substitute. The right and the duty of parents to educate their children are primordial and inalienable." -Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2221
St. John Paul II Parish offers a variety of opportunities
to help build the faith life of our children and families.
Kindergarten Program (Children ages 4-6)
Kindergarten sessions are hands-on with tactile activities, games, and stories that help children learn the basics of prayer and encounter the holiness and sacredness of God. We will meet twice a month on Wednesdays at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church from 4:15pm-5:30pm.
Family Formation (Children ages 4-Fifth Grade)
Our program is designed to be a learning experience for both children and their parents (and sometimes grandparents)! We recognize the calling and responsibility of parents as primary educators and role models to their children. Every family is a mini-church – a domestic church. And as a parish and the Church, we are a family of families. We gather 8 times a year for a hands on learning session. We also offer family events and at home lessons to help build up our faith throughout the year.
Our Sacramental Preparation program is a two -year program that can be entered in a child’s first, second, third, fourth or fifth grade year. This includes the 8 monthly Family Faith Formation Sessions each year as well as four Sacrament specific retreats in the child’s second year. Children preparing to receive the Sacraments are required to attend all sessions. Your annual tuition fee covers the cost of Family Formation, Sacramental Preparation and any other Faith Formation program offered for your child’s age.
Tween Youth Ministry Program (Grades 3-5, for those who have received their Confirmation)
Our Tween Youth Ministry program is a great way to help your child continue to build on their faith life and their role in the activity of the Church. They will deepen their understanding of Scripture, prayer, and the lives of the saints. We will meet twice a month on Wednesdays at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church from 4:15pm-5:30pm. Your child must be fully initiated in the Church before entering this program.
The religious education program that we offer should just be one tool in your toolbox of educating your children in the faith. We plan to help build up your toolbox for you to create a home where tenderness, forgiveness, respect, fidelity, and service are the rule.
Cost
The cost for each year of children's faith formation is $50 per child, with a family cap of $150. This cost covers all program materials. Inability to pay never disqualifies a child or family from participating.
